Welcome to our collection of favorite Mid Century style fonts! These fonts showcase all the bold, fun design elements typical of typefaces from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Elegant brush and monoline scripts and chunky off-kilter display fonts set the tone for stylish vintage wow-worthy projects!
This is a collection of both cutting and writing fonts. The fonts you see here are ALL tested and used, by us, for real projects. The pictures you see here are photos of lettering on white cardstock, either cut from Cricut Value Vinyl or written using a Fine Point pen. We included a sample height measurement on each photo so you know what the fonts look like at that size.
Almost all of these are free, but since so many of you have subscriptions, we included a handful of Creative Fabrica fonts. We’ve sorted them into serif, sans serif, and script/cursive fonts but they span many different styles.
Serif
These Mid Century serif fonts immediately evoke everything cool and fun about this era of typefaces. Think Vegas-style signage, vintage ads, old cartoons, and Atomic Age everything!
We often pair these with cursive fonts, or even throw in a sans serif like Sassy Sway. Mid Century designs look great with more than one font in the mix, but a swingin’ serif is a must!

Script
Like the serif fonts, script typefaces do a lot of heavy lifting in Mid Century design. We rarely create a vintage project without one! These fonts capture all kinds of vibes, whether you’re looking for car culture cool, casual elegance, or something fun and energetic.
Some of these scripts are a little on the thin side for cutting (Clicker Script, Honey Script, Sacramento, Stalemate, The Hills), but they cut well out of Value Vinyl with a minimum 0.6″ line height. These particular fonts also work well as writing fonts – see the next section.

Fonts to write with an inset, or Print & Cut
We often use these fonts for cards where we want to include a sentiment written in pen. Most of these require an inset (negative offset) to fill them in so they look like a solid line, but you can also use these for Print & Cut sentiments.
These fonts were written with a 0.4mm (Fine Point) Cricut pen on cardstock, and we’ve indicated how many insets we used for each writing sample at the line height given.
If you need more help, check out our tutorial on how to fill in text with a pen using your Cricut.

Mid Century designs of all kinds, including fonts, have aged spectacularly – there’s a reason why modern designers have continued to revisit these styles. We hope you enjoy these timeless classics as much as we do!
